About Kevin Towns … 

• In 1976 Kevin married Sue and graduated from the Tasmanian University with a Bachelor Degree. He spent the first 10 years of his working life as a high school teacher.
• During that time Kevin completed a Masters of Education Degree, majoring in Leadership.
• In 1986 Kevin completed a Diploma of Business and embarked on a new career in business, including real estate and property development.
• In 1987 he joined Hank Petrusma and Ed ten Broeke as a Director and equal share holder.
• Kevin, Ed and Hank purchased a 49% stake in the Franchisor business of Nationwide Realty, and as State Manager, Kevin went on to expand the Franchise to 13 offices throughout the state of Tasmania.
• In March 2001 the newly branded real estate company "Petrusma & Partners" was launched and in July 2003, Kevin was appointed Managing Director. Petrusma & Partners rapidly grew and continues to be the largest and most successful privately owned real estate office in Tasmania with over 70 staff across 7 offices. Kevin currently serves as Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Petrusma & Partners.
• Kevin and Sue are the parents of 4 married children and grandparents to 6 grandchildren.

Studied electrical engineering after matriculation at the Boyer Newsprint mill for 4 1/2 years

Family:
Ed married in 1974 to Tess and has two adult children, Daniel and Naomi. Also blessed with two grandchildren.

Hobbies & Interests:
Ed is a private pilot and enjoys flying; motorcycle riding, fishing and scuba diving. He is also committed to his local church.

Ed commenced a career in Real Estate in 1975 at the age of 22 with the firm Hank Petrusma Real Estate. In 1982 became a qualified Auctioneer and after 3 years study achieved his Real Estate Agents Licence in 1984. Ed became a partner of Hank Petrusma Real Estate with Hank Petrusma & Noel Towns in 1984. Over the next three years the business expanded from one office in Moonah to 4 offices with branches at Howrah, Kingston and Sandy Bay.

Ed was very committed to the industry and over a period of years represented the Tasmanian Real Estate Institute as:

Chairman of the Multiple Listing Bureau

Chairman of Disputes Committee

Chairman of the Advertising Committee

Southern Branch President

Member of the Practices Committee

Institute Executive member for 7 years and represented the industry on the Government Estate Agency Advisory Committee.

Ed was awarded the Diploma Associate of the Real Estate Institute of Australia in 1986 and accredited as a State Trainer with the Real Estate Trainers Association in 1992.

Ed was also instrumental in introducing the Nationwide Realty to Southern Tasmania and became a Director and Shareholder of Nationwide Realty Tas Pty Ltd. To further educate and grow the business he had the pleasure of attending the National Association of Realtors Conferences in Los Angeles in 1980 and Hawaii in 1990.

The business of Petrusma and Partners was reformed with fellow Directors Hank Petrusma and Kevin Towns in 2000 and grew rapidly to its current status of 7 sales offices and 1 Property Management office in the Southern Regions of Tasmania.

It has been the fastest growing independent Real Estate business in Tasmania and enjoys a reputation of trust and integrity. The business currently employees around 80 staff.

Hobbies & Interests:

Hank began his working life with the Commercial Bank of Australia in 1958. He joined the Hobart Building Society in 1965 specialising in Housing Finance. 1971 found him running the first branch office of the L.J. Hooker organisation in the northern suburbs of Hobart. Hank ventured into his own Real Estate Business in 1974, opened a second office within twelve months, a third in 1975 and a fourth in the early eighties.

Always keen to create new initiatives, he conducts daily one-minute tips on Magic 107FM, a monthly two minute "Let's Talk Housing" segment on television. The "Let's Talk Housing" television segments are still running on a regular basis. He also runs various campaigns on both radio & television on an on-going basis. He also conducts a weekly "Real Estate Today" 5 minute radio segment on FM103.

He is also a past president of the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania as well as attending National Association of Realtors Conferences in 1979, 1981, 1992 and 1997. Hank is a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Australia, Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and member of the National Speakers Association. As an accredited trainer and speaker, over the past few years he has trained and motivated many sales people throughout Australia.

Hank also served in the Legislative Council in the Tasmanian Parliament for 9 years, serving on many select committees. He has always had an active life with many involvements at community level involving charitable, Church, sporting and other organisations. He has conducted numerous charity auctions and is available to assist any group wishing to conduct an auction.

He has served many community groups over the past few years, including: Tassie Devils National Basketball Team, Tassie Islanders Womens National Basketball League Team, Tasmanian Deaf Society, Australia Rosny Children's Choir, Cancer Support & Information Service, Tasmanian Spastics Association, Cancer Gala Nights, Cerebral Palsy Association, Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics, Y.A.S.T.

Hank has a strong philosophy of contributing back in to the community. He has a sound reputation for providing expert advice.

In April, 2001 saw the coming together of Petrusma & Partners with former associates Ed tenBroeke and Kevin Towns joining forces with Hank to create Tasmania's largest private owned Real Estate Company with the philosophy of 'providing housing solutions' for people cross the Hobart region. The high profile company was founded on the principles of providing excellent customer service through trust, honesty and integrity.

The Directors believe that the people of Hobart were ready to accept a new company that embraced change, cared for people and provided the very best in service through highly skilled staff and recognition of their achievements.
